The Lesbrary Tumblr

The Basics

I run the Lesbrary, and I'm also on booktube and goodreads.

Check out the Lesbrary Goodreads Project for lists of les/bi/etc books by topic and genre

See the Master List of Lesbian & Bi Women Books Recommendations for my favourites!

Support Bi & Lesbian Lit and the Lesbrary on Patreon for monthly book giveaways, or buy us a coffee on ko-fi if you're feeling generous!

Mostly lesbian lit, always bi-, ace-, aro- and trans-inclusive.

its-a-bit-of-a-long-story-deact: Do you have any historical fiction recommendations? (preferably more modern history, like 1800-2000)

a-wlw-reads:

I really love historical fiction so here comes a giant book dump.

Almost all of Sarah Waters’ books take place in that time period (1800s for the most part). I’ve read everything my library carries of hers and I loved them! Also from the same time period (Victorian era) is Wildthorn by Jane Eagland and Frog Music by Emma Donoghue.

Some more recent ones (1930s - 1990s) in more or less chronological order are:

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg (1930s)

The Color Purple by Alice Walker (1930s)

The Night Watch by Sarah Waters (1940s)

The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith (1950s)

Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley (1959)

Odd Girl Out by Ann Bannon (1950s)

Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde (1960s)

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson (1960s)

Coffee Will Make You Black by April Sinclair (1960s)

Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown (1960s - 1970s)

Honey Girl by Lisa Freeman (1970s)

Another Life Altogether by Elaine Beale (1970s)

Hood by Emma Donoghue (1970s - 1990s)

Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden (1980s)

The Year They Burned The Books by Nancy Garden (1990s)
